The Dopest

Hey, we're hanging around. This is Cooper, by the way, I figure I might just say hey. Big thanks to Maraithe for the com, it really keeps me motivated. You Rock. Also, I believe that Tim is reading, so, thanks to him too. aLso, I personally would like to thank Mike and Mike from Cin City for letting us crash in their apartment. Well, I love to capitalize in the right spots, and this keyboard is making it very hard for me to do so. goodnight.

fireworks

highlights of today:
1) the gypsy hut giving us an empty/furnished apartment to stay in, everoyne had a bed to sleep in
2) buying lots of fireworks in indiana
3) grand slam meal at dennys

last night's show at the gypsy hut was a little weird, the bar half of it was packed but the venue wasn't at all. for steeple people, we ran into the bar half and screamed all the words while running around it with the venue door open. we got a lot of funny stares and it was really awkward but think of all those people who would have never heard us, right?

setlist last night @ the gypsy hut:
born in a corn
rebirth of the mammal
radioactive/born for a short time (mae shi cover)
your face is dusty
steeple people
waits
when things
document
monster
zombie attack

cubans is hott
farticle/autogenic

setlist tonight at the cinemat (this isn't a joke):
obsession
cubans is hott
your face is dusty
rebirth of the mammal
radioactive
steeple people
when things
document

zombie attack
autogenic death
rebirth of the mammal
radioactive
your face is dusty
monster

document
when things
rabid rabbits
zombie attack
born in a corn
autogenic death

we played the entire set to our door person. about halfway through autogenic death, a few people walked in so we played most of our set again.

personal updates (pt. 2)

pat - i got flamingo honey on vinyl and am bummed i'm not in yarmouth watching people insult eachother at the town meeting

cooper - sup

mike - nm u?

pete - i'm going to live here

cincinnati chili

we just had some and it's totally awesome

last night's show was another sparsely populated one (hopefully the last), but not bad for a show that came together extremely last minute. we played with the blue eyed gunslingers and red sky (duel drum set action). we stayed the night at joel + jennifer's house in columbus. they were really nice and let us crash in their living room and made us pasta. they also had one of the biggest VHS collections ever, really cool people.

we bumped outta the house around noon today and got our oil changed, before hitting the road. we stopped for taco bell, hologram tatoos and hannah montana stickers. after getting into cincinnati, we parked in the downtown area and explored a little. people are super friendly around here. we've spent the evening with mike from hyacinth house (we're playing with them tomorrow night) and he took us to get some skyline chili (really awesome stuff) and to a really cool record store called shake it records. cooper found whirlwind heat's flamingo honey on 10" and let me buy it, a truly rare find.

in c-bus

after a short night of sleep on somecomfortable couches and recliners, we left a little before 10am for a nine hour drive (w/ breaks) to columbus.

last night's show at o'reilly's ended up being a blast. it was sort of a last minute show (booked less than 24 hours before it happened) so there wasn't a totally high bar set for it, just something to fill the gap left by a cancelled show. there were probably around 10 or 15 people watching, all of which seemed to enjoy our set/talked to us after. big thanks to the bands fantasm and skylar king (both of philly) for making it happen and being awesome all around.

we played:

rebirth of the mammal
radioactive
rabid rabbits
born in a corn
your face is dusty
when things/document
monster
waits
cubans is hott

(sort-of) encore:
autogenic death
obsession
what would lance armstrong do?

tonight we're playing at this place in columbus, OH called the high five with a band named the blue eyed gunslingers. mike and i are parked out front waiting to load-in and pete and cooper are out at dinner somewhere in the area. i ate at a white castle for the first time ever an hour ago and i feel like crap, i think it had something to do with the wet paper thin meat. maybe not. we'll probably post our set and other personal thoughts after our performance. -pat

a word from all four, straight outta killadelphia

we're hanging out in our "V.I.P. lounge" at o'rielly's pub in philly. we think our set is soon, but who knows. a few bands have gone already and there aren't a lot of people here, so it's sort of like a late night practice, seven hours from home. we had a long drive today, lots of laughs and rap jams. we're taking a bunch of pictures and working on some beats in the backroom, the pictures will probably make their way onto this blog soon.

:::PERSONAL UPDATES:::

pat: i haven't eaten anything today

mike: i'd eat a kid if i found it dead. pete told me he was gay. i don't know what to do.

pete:mike told me i was gay and tried to bump my uglies. no homo

Cooper: Hey gang, it's yo man coop. By VIP lounge, they mean, empty room. It's not true what you read above

after we play/practice, we're going to crash at the mikus household (one of pat's friend's houses) outside of philly. more fun times to be had tomorrow!

despite having only confirmed this show about week ago and it being on a thursday night, there was a really incredible turnout. thanks a billion played a pretty cool set, hadn't heard them before. our set was probably one of the best sounding/wildest sets we've done ever. people were super into it and we got some good donations (including a hat and homemade good luck card) to get us going.

trouble in lala land

bad place to start our tour story at, but....here it goes

SETTING:
the zookeepers + el viaje were set to go on tour. i fully booked our tour and got money and housing worked out in (almost) every city. nina came with access to a van. life was good.

RECAP OF METAPHORIC KICKS IN THE CROTCH (part 1?):
- this sunday (the 20th), nina/el viaje had to pull out of the tour for a number of reasons, taking her van with her.
- our usual "show jeep" was available to take on the tour, but is currently needing repairs exceeding a reasonable amount of money including new tires and a major transmission problem. it's not in the worst shape now, but who knows what 2300 miles and a few six hour days might do to it.
- on monday, through a college friend, we got in touch with a band/vehicle to meet up with in PA, sounded pretty slick and they were 110% about it, but their drummer wasn't available.
- also on monday, we got in touch with an electronic artist from boston who was really into touring + had a vehicle. after one e-mail exchange, he fell out of touch.
- on tuesday, our new bedford show was cancelled due to venue troubles and lack of a permit to do something outside

WTF PAT:
had i known we didn't have a solid vehicle to tour in, i would have never booked a tour but it was assured to me that we did numorous times. after putting in months and months of endless research, planning, and personal sacrifice, i'm not about to let this ship sink, regardless of the odds being not in our favor.

we'll see what happens. -pat
